What’s happening? No. 9 seed Western Illinois is facing No. 4 seed Seton Hall in the Sweet 16 of the 2024 NCAA tournament in our ‘College Hoops 2K8’ sim. We’re going to watch the simulated game and live stream it on Twitch tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Where can I watch? My Twitch channel
Do I need to sign up for anything? No. You only have to create a free Twitch account if you want to comment in the live chat feature, which is always really fun and highly recommended.
IF WE WIN: We face the winner of No. 2 seed Houston vs. No. 3 seed Alabama in the Elite Eight tonight. We will sim and watch the Elite Eight game shortly after the buzzer in the Sweet 16 should we defeat Seton Hall.
So no one is controlling the teams? That’s correct. I only do the recruiting and set the coaching strategies for Western Illinois. We are watching a simulated game.
I’ll be doing a pre-game press conference as soon as you get this email, so come hang out with me on Twitch.

Here’s a look at Seton Hall’s roster:
And here’s how the two teams matchup:
The Leathernecks are making their third straight trip to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament. Last season, our run ended to No. 1 seed Kansas in the Elite Eight. The year before that, we fell to Texas in the Sweet 16.
We arrive in the Sweet 16 this season after defeating No. 8 seed Pepperdine, 101-98, in the first round behind a brilliant performance from senior shooting guard Kim Kone, who went off for 34 points and hit the game-winning corner three with 3.5 seconds left. We then proceeded to defeated No. 1 seed Ohio State, who was the most popular pick to win the national championship based on the bracket contest we’re doing again with the help of Sean from Hoops Insight.
Here’s a note from Sean on the bracket contest:
While it's RIP to the ability to make picks within the bracket app, I was able to shuffle some things around and allow everyone to be able to view their picks, the leaderboard, and some other interesting stuff about the bracket contest. Going forward, we'll keep making picks by spreadsheet but once the picks are locked I'll get them loaded into the app.
That’s great news. We’ll sim through the bracket if we lose tonight and crown a champion. If we win both games, the Final Four stream is scheduled for Monday night.
Western Illinois is looking for its fourth Final Four appearance and third national national championship in Year 17. Can these Leathernecks achieve immortality?
I’m on Twitch now, so come hang out.
Go ‘Necks.
Hey Rick!
Can I ask a couple of questions? Let me preface that by saying I absolutely love, love, love this series; I'm a hardcore 2K8er, and I'm currently running my own Legacy, trying to emulate "Ricky Charisma's" success. Was just curious, where do your ratings currently stand, especially your offense, defense, and teaching ratings? My teaching is currently at a B rating, and as far as I know (and correct me if I'm wrong), that's what increases your players' ratings during the season. I've managed to get a player up to an 85 OVR, but that's it. You've had Kim Kone go from a 65 to the 90s; so I'm assuming your teaching ratings are quite high?
Also, what offense and defense are you running?
Keep it going, Coach Rick! You're already in elite company with 2 national titles!!
