Welcome back to the Western Illinois Leathernecks’ chase for immortality in ‘College Hoops 2K8.’ If you’re new here, check out the About page on this website for an introduction to the series and results from previous seasons.
The American game was a horrible loss, but I'm not shocked that they outrebounded us because they were taller than Cal and Kansas. Also, the loss to Oral Roberts brought back my PTSD from year 4.
Can Hatten or Draughan or Copeland or even Powell(!) play PG? That way, you'd have a super-long lineup that would be tailor-made for a 2-3 zone, especially with Ballinger back and playing in the middle.
I did check out Hatten at point guard and his rating fell like four points. Copeland's rating fell lower than Amous' when I moved him to PG as well. Definitely thinking about going to the 2-3 zone in Year 10. Right now, man-to-man is our base, with a 1-2-2 as secondary. That's the alignment we won the national title with, so I figured I would keep it going until it worked against us.
You motivated me to give the game a look again! I appreciate it. I solved the walk-on issue but cutting the walk-ons before each season or redshirting them so that they didn't eat up court time. The team immediately improved.
You'd think someone would've eventually explained to Downey how goaltending works. He single handedly kept WIU in the game
A 2nd half 21-4 run against a 1 seed. 65-52 Bama turned into 73-69 WIU. Bama responds with a 16-2 run to take the lead for good. WIU just ran out of gas, like you said. It seemed like every miss was short.
- The entire season, it just never really felt like it was our year
- I respect not RSing Ira Willis. Sure, it could be argued it will help for next year. But look at that 5 star PG! Also, the kid chose to come to Macomb when most 4 star recruits would haven't even blinked an eye.
- The collapse in the 2nd half of the 2nd half exposed a few holes in the offense. Without Nelke and Hendriks, dribble penetration has seemed practically non existent. That likely could be tweaked by adding some rotation minutes at the backup PG spot to give Amous a rest (as Ricky C mentioned). Of course natural progression with Amous will help too.
- While of course 2017-2018 seems to be the year everything will fall into place, I still have a really good feeling about year 10. The B1G will regret that time they negatively recruited against Ricky Charisma

What is the 5* kid’s overall rating? Is he getting a redshirt this year?
Year 10 should be good, but Year 11 is going to be epic if no one leaves early. The team unity rating on that RS SR laden roster is gonna be insane!

I'm a hard core Leathernecks fan but I was screaming for Ole Miss to foul at the end of that game. Their coach should be fired.
When I have played games like this, it is generally okay be a bigger team, as long as they can still be a good shooting team.
Well, maybe not. It might be the reason why you have so many turnovers though.
So in the future, try to be smaller, or make sure your bigger guys have better ball handling.
Coach Ricky is going to need to get good rebounders in the future.
